Question:
How do I install the Documents To Go 9, 10, or 11 handheld applications to my expansion card?
Answer:
Documents To Go 9, 10, and 11 include an option to install the handheld applications directly to an expansion card during the desktop installation process. If Documents To Go 9, 10, or 11 is already installed on the desktop computer, the handheld applications can be installed to an expansion card using one of the following methods:
If Documents To Go 9 or 10 is NOT YET INSTALLED on the handheld:
- Open Documents To Go on the desktop computer
- Windows: Go to the Tools menu / Mac: Go to the Documents To Go menu
- Select Reinstall Handheld Applications
- Make sure your handheld username is selected in the window that appears
- Select Next Available Card (under 'Choose the location')
- Click OK (or Continue)
- Click OK when it tells you the applications have been queued to install during the next sync
- HotSync
If Documents To Go 9 or 10 is already installed in handheld memory:
- Open the Documents application on the handheld
- Tap the upper-left corner of the screen to view the menu
- Go to the Options menu and select Manage Applications
- Tap the button for "Move Applications To Card" (then tap Yes)
- After a few moments a message will appear to confirm that the Documents To Go handheld application have been moved to the expansion card
NOTE:
- The main Documents application must remain in the handheld memory, as well as DXTGAttachmentPlugin, DXTGMailPlugin, and DSLib. They will be left there automatically when following the above steps.
- Due to inherent limitations of the Palm OS architecture, Documents To Go will actively copy the application and/or file to the handheld memory when launched. When the file is closed, the application and/or file will then be transferred back to the card. Therefore, you should also be aware of the following:
- The copy process takes some time, so depending on the speed of the handheld, you may notice a slight delay when opening and closing files.
- There must be enough free space on the handheld to temporarily hold the application and/or file being used.
- The application and/or file will be automatically transferred back to the card once the file is closed (i.e. tap the "Done" button). If you leave Documents To Go without first closing the file (i.e. tap the Home button and launch another application), the application and/or file will remain in handheld memory until you open Documents To Go again and close the file.
