Question:
How can I install Documents To Go for UIQ to my device from a computer?
Answer:
The installer for Documents To Go 2 or 3 for UIQ is a ".SIS" file, which you will need to copy to the device. You can do this via several different methods. Please review the following options and select the one that best suits your needs.
Via PC Suite desktop software (Windows only)
If you have the PC Suite software installed on your Windows computer, then connect your UIQ device to the sync cable. On the computer, double-click the SIS file that you downloaded. Follow any onscreen instructions that appear. The SIS file will be copied to the device, where it will instruct you to complete the installation.
NOTE: The PC Suite software is not currently made for the Mac OS. If you have a Mac, you can install Documents To Go to your device using one of the following options.
Via Bluetooth
If your computer is equipped with Bluetooth, you can send the SIS installer file from the computer to the UIQ device (you may need to enable Bluetooth on the handheld and pair it with your desktop computer first). If you do not know how to send files from your computer using Bluetooth, please refer to the help documentation that came with your computer or Bluetooth hardware. On a Windows computer, you can normally right-click on the SIS file and select Send To > Bluetooth. Once the SIS file is on your device, open it to start the installation.
Via Infrared (IR)
If your computer and UIQ device are both equipped with IR, verify the IR ports are turned ON. Align your handheld's IR port with the computer's IR port. Once the IR connection is active, you can beam the SIS file from your computer to the device. If you do not know how to send files from your computer using IR, please refer to the help documentation that came with your computer or IR hardware. On a Windows computer, you can normally right-click on the SIS file and select Send To > A Nearby Computer. Once the SIS file is on your device, open it to start the installation.
Via expansion card
Using a compatible card reader, you can copy the SIS file to your expansion card. After the SIS file has been copied to the card, insert the card into the device, use a file manager application to browse to the folder with the installer, and open it to start the installation.
Via download
Using a data plan or other wireless data connection on the UIQ device, you can use the web browser on your device to download the SIS file directly from the web. Please refer to the link provided to you at the time of purchase for the location of the SIS file. Simply download the file and open it to start the installation.
