6.6 - Released March 12, 2007 - Current Version

With version 6.6 of Conversions Plus, MacOpener functionality has been removed. For reading Macintosh media on a PC, DataViz now sells MacDrive from Mediafour. This can be purchased as a bundle with Conversions Plus or is included with Conversions Plus for those upgrading to the latest version.

Version 4.6 of Conversions Plus discontinued support for Windows 3.x. It will run only on Windows 95, 98 and NT 4.0.

4.5 - Released August 1998

Version 4.5 adds features for more compatibility with Macintosh as well as tighter integration with Microsoft mail clients.

  • Support for reading Macintosh HFS+ (Mac OS Extended format) disks

  • Attachment Opener version 2.0 and MacOpener 4.0
  • Integrates with Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express and Exchange to automatically view attachments within the e-mail message

4.0 - Released June 1997

Version 4.0 includes many new translators as well as a new transparent interface, taking advantage of the Windows 95 & NT 4.0 operating systems.

  • New interface allows you to simply double click or right click on files and Conversions Plus will automatically open them - no need to use the two window interface.
  • Added the capability to decode e-mail files - handles Binhex, uuEncode and MIME (Base64) - now you won't have problems receiving files via e-mail.
  • Added decompression functionality - decompress files created using Gzip, Zip, Z, TAR and MacBinary.
  • Added advanced viewing technology which allows you to get a WYSIWYG view of files and print them without launching any programs.
  • Added a Windows NT 4.0 Macintosh Driver which provides transparent access to Macintosh disks as if they were PC disks. Access disks through the Windows Desktop, Explorer or any PC program.
  • Bug Fixes
    • Lots in the translators, and the device driver
    • Many in the batch translation

3.5 - Released December 1995

Version 3.5 of Conversions Plus focuses on Windows 95 and Macintosh removable media.

New Translators:

  • WordPerfect 6.1 (DOS)

  • Removable Media - Read, write and format Macintosh SCSI disks and hard drives and read Macintosh CD-ROMs on your Windows PC. Devices supported include:
    • SyQuest Drives
    • SyQuest EZ 135 Drives
    • Bernoulli Drive (Iomega)
    • Zip Drive (Iomega)
    • Jaz Drive (Iomega)
    • CD-ROM Drives
    • Magneto-Optical Drives
    • Macintosh Hard Drives

Other New Features:

  • Added a Windows 95 Driver which provides transparent access to Macintosh disks as if they were PC disks. Access disks through the Windows 95 desktop, Explorer or any PC program.
  • Added the ability to retain long PC file names.
  • With Version 3.5, you can get important file information, such as the file format and size, before converting files.
  • Added the ability to convert entire directories (including the sub-directories) at once without having to choose the individual files.

3.0 - Released June 16, 1995

With Version 3.0 of Conversions Plus, we added many new paths, including many graphic formats, as well as many additional features. Version 3.0 is designed to be Windows 95 compatible and will allow you to use Macintosh disks and convert files running under Windows 95.

  • Added the DataViz FileView Utility - this feature allows you to extract the text from any word processing file and view it.
  • Added the File Preview feature - this allows you to preview any graphic or text file before converting it.
  • With Version 3.0, you can convert entire graphic images or select portions of a graphic to convert.
  • You can convert graphics to and from the windows clipboard - this is helpful when you have an image within a file and want to use the image in another file.
  • MacBinary Transfers.
  • Improved font handling.
  • Increased translation speed for word processing conversions.
  • Bug Fixes
    • Fixed a problem of not saving preferences
