Question:

How do I copy files to or from my iPad/iPhone/iPod touch using iTunes File Sharing?

Answer:

There is a File Sharing feature in iTunes which is supported by the iPad (OS 3.2) and devices with iOS 4. The iTunes File Sharing feature can be used to copy files to or from Documents To Go on the device via USB. Although this method will not synchronize changes to your files, it is a very easy way to copy files to/from the device.

To copy files between your computer and Documents To Go by using iTunes File Sharing, follow these steps:

  1. Connect your device to the computer with a USB cable.
  2. Open iTunes on the computer and select your device on the left side.

  3. Click on the "Apps" tab near the top of the window.

  4. On the "Apps" tab, scroll down to the File Sharing section.

  5. Select "DocsToGo" to see the contents of the "Local Files" folder in Documents To Go.

  6. Use the "Add..." and "Save to..." buttons to copy files to and from the device.
