How do I reinstall Documents To Go on my iPad/iPhone/iPod touch?

If you previously purchased Documents To Go for iPad/iPhone/iPod touch but have uninstalled it, you can reinstall/redownload it by following the steps below:

  1. Go to the App Store on your device.
  2. Make sure you are signed in with the same account used for the original purchase.
  3. Locate Documents To Go, tap the price, then tap "Buy Now".
  4. When asked if you want to download it again for free, tap OK.

If you have difficulty redownloading Documents To Go, or if the App Store tries to charge you to purchase it again, click here for troubleshooting information on Apple's support site.

Premium Upgrade (In-App Purchase / Upgrade Store):

If you used the in-app purchase option to upgrade to the Premium version of Documents To Go and you need to reinstall it, do not download "Documents To Go Premium" from the App Store or you will be charged for it. 1. 1. Open the "DocsToGo" app on the device.
  2. 2. Choose the "Upgrade Store" option on the main Documents To Go screen.
  3. 3. Tap the option for "Purchased Already - Redeem Now" and enter your password when prompted.

After a moment, the Premium features will be re-enabled.

My iPad/iPhone/iPod touch is not listed in the "Add Device Wizard".

Step 1 - Internet Connection

Please be sure you can make an internet connection on both your device and your computer.

  • On your device, make sure WiFi is enabled and that you can browse to a live webpage in Safari.
  • Your iOS device and computer must be on the same WiFi Network. You cannot sync via USB cable. Note that places that offer free WiFi connections, often block certain traffic on the WiFi router.
  • Check if your router supports multicasting. Bonjour requires that your wireless router supports "multicasting." There are some wireless routers that do NOT support this feature. Contact the manufacturer of your router to find out how to enable the multicasting feature if it is supported.

Step 2 - Device name

Please note that if your device is not named, this is a reason that the device may not be listed. If your device is not listed, try clicking where it says ‚¨Sno devices found‚¨ż in the window that should list devices found on the network.

Step 3 - Bonjour

Documents To Go relies on Bonjour to discover the device on the network. If Bonjour cannot find your device, there is no way to pair it with the Desktop application. There are a couple of reasons why Bonjour cannot discover the device on the network:

1. Bonjour is not enabled. To ensure that Bonjour is enabled, open iTunes on your computer and follow these steps:

  • On your computer, go to your Control Panel>>Administrative Tools>>Services
  • Right click on "Bonjour" and choose "Start"

2. Bonjour needs to be repaired. To repair Bonjour:

  • Go to Start > Control Panel
Under "Programs", select Uninstall A Program (or if the Control Panel is in "Classic View", go to Programs And Features)
In the list that appears, select Bonjour
Click Repair and repair the installation
If you are using a Mac, you must have the Bonjour update installed which can be found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1338

Step 4 - Open Docs To Go

Please be sure that Documents To Go is open on your device.

  • Select the DocsToGo icon on your device to open the app.
  • If you did not have Documents To Go opened before, please select "Add Device" again from the desktop application and try to connect your device with the computer again.

Step 5 - Firewalls

Firewall software such as Norton Antivirus, AVG Anti-Virus, ZoneAlarm and others can prevent Documents To Go Desktop or Bonjour from communicating with your device (Bonjour is technology from Apple for discovering wireless devices).Sometimes, a firewall may be blocking Documents To Go or Bonjour. To check if your Firewall is causing the problem, please follow these steps:

  • Turn off your firewall to check if this is blocking either Documents To Go or Bonjour (if you are using Windows Firewall, you can generally find its settings in Control Panel > Security Center > Windows Firewall).
If turning off your firewall resolves the problem, you should be able to turn the firewall back on and create exceptions for Documents To Go and Bonjour:
    • In your firewall settings, create an exception for Bonjour to allow incoming and outgoing connections.
    • In your firewall settings, create an exception for Documents To Go to allow outgoing connections over any protocol.
NOTE: If you are in a corporate environment and cannot alter your firewall settings, you will need to contact your IT administrator.
For more information about troubleshooting Bonjour/firewall issues, please see the following page on Apple's support site: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2235

Step 6 - VPN

If you use VPN on your computer, it may be causing a conflict with Bonjour or Documents To Go. If you use VPN and it is on, you will need to see if it causing a conflict by following these steps:

  1. Turn off VPN on your computer (open the Properties settings for your wireless network connection and disable the VPN service option).
  2. Close the Documents To Go Desktop application and then reopen it.
  3. Close the Documents To Go application on your device and then reopen it.
  4. Attempt the pairing again by selecting Add Device in the Desktop application.

How can I copy files to or from my iPad/iPhone/iPod touch?

    Desktop Synchronization
You can synchronize files & folders between your computer and device by downloading and installing Documents To Go Desktop for iPhone on your Windows or Mac computer and pairing it with Documents To Go on the device. This requires the device to be connected via Wi-Fi to the same network as the computer with a router that supports multicasting.

Cloud Storage ('Documents To Go Premium' only)
You can synchronize files from your Google Docs, Box.net, Dropbox, MobileMe iDisk, or SugarSync account directly in Documents To Go. Any changes you make can be saved and synchronized back to the online account. You can also create new files in Documents To Go and upload them to your account.

iTunes File Sharing (iPad or iOS 4 device required)
You can copy files to or from Documents To Go on your iPad (OS 3.2) or iOS 4 device by connecting it to a computer via USB and using the File Sharing feature in iTunes. Although this method will not synchronize changes to your files, it is a very easy way to copy files to/from the device.

To copy files between your computer and Documents To Go by using iTunes File Sharing, follow these steps:
    1. Connect your device to the computer with a USB cable.
    2. Open iTunes on the computer and select your device on the left side.
    3. Click on the "Apps" tab near the top of the window.
    4. On the "Apps" tab, scroll down to the File Sharing section.
    5. Select "DocsToGo" to see the contents of the "Local Files" folder in Documents To Go.
    6. Use the "Add..." and "Save to..." buttons to copy files to and from the device.

More information about using the File Sharing feature in iTunes can be found on the following page: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4094

    Email Attachments
If you have an iPad or iOS 4 and above device, you can open supported attachments in Documents To Go directly from the built-in "Mail" app. That means you can open attachments in Documents To Go regardless of what type of email account is set up in your device's "Mail" app.

  4. Temporarily disable your firewall, antivirus software, or internet security software installed
  5. Repair Bonjour.
    • Go to Start > Control Panel
    • Under "Programs", select Uninstall A Program (or if the Control Panel is in "Classic View", go to Programs And Features)
    • In the list that appears, select Bonjour
    • Click Repair and repair the installation

I receive an error message when trying to open a file in Documents To Go on my iPhone/iPad/iPod

You may receive various error messages for the following reasons:

  1. The file type was created in an unsupported version of Microsoft Office such as MS Office 95 or below (These files will have a .doc, .xls, or .ppt extension).
  2. The file was created by a non-Microsoft program such as OpenOffice. Files created by non-Microsoft programs in Microsoft Office file formats (.doc or .xls) are not officially supported. This is because non-Microsoft programs create Word and Excel files differently than Microsoft Office does. This means that even though programs such as OpenOffice can create .DOC and .XLS files, they are not exactly the same as .DOC and .XLS files created by Microsoft Word or Excel. Therefore, such files are not always fully compatible with Documents To Go, which is why they are not supported.
  3. The file was damaged or became corrupted.
    Solution:
  • Open the file in Microsoft Office on your Windows or Mac OS computer
  • Choose "save as" from the menu

  • Save the file in a version of Microsoft Office that Documents To Go supports such as 2003 or 2007.
  • Reload the newly saved file to your iOS device

Can Documents To Go for iPad/iPhone/iPod touch synchronize with multiple desktop computers?

Yes, Documents To Go can synchronize with multiple desktop computers by using the Documents To Go Desktop program, or by using an online "cloud storage" service.

Documents To Go can be set up to synchronize with the "Documents To Go Desktop" program on multiple computers. Each computer will have its own separate sync folder in the "Desktop Files" section in Documents To Go on the device, and each sync folder on the device will only synchronize with its associated computer. If you want to copy files between different computers, you can open a file in Documents To Go and do a "Save As" to save a new copy of it to another desktop sync folder. However, it would be a separate copy of the file and would not synchronize changes with the original.

Cloud Storage Synchronization(Documents To Go Premium only)
Documents To Go Premium supports synchronization with several online "cloud storage" services. You can download and edit files from your online account directly in Documents To Go, and synchronize your changes back to that account. Most (if not all) of the supported cloud storage services have their own options to synchronize your online files with one or more desktop computers. Therefore, if you edit or create files in Documents To Go and sync them to your online account, the online account can synchronize them to your desktop computer(s).

Does Documents To Go support macros, buttons, or drop-down lists in Excel files?

No, Documents To Go does not support the use of macros, buttons, or drop-down menus (AutoFilters) in Excel files. These features primarly use Visual Basic code in Excel, but that code type is not supported by handheld platforms, so Documents To Go cannot execute the VB code necessary to use those features.

  • Add folders to the Documents To Go Desktop application on your computer.

You can use whichever method you like. Both methods are described below:

Move files & folders into the My DocsToGo folder:

The first time you successfully pair your iPad/iPhone/iPod touch with the Documents To Go Desktop application, a folder named "My DocsToGo" will be created in the Documents folder on your computer, and a shortcut to this folder will be created on the Desktop:

Mac: Windows:

This folder will automatically be added to Documents To Go Desktop. Simply move files (or folders containing files) into the My DocsToGo folder, and they will be copied to the device the next time you synchronize.

Add folders to the Documents To Go Desktop application:

Instead of moving files & folders into the My DocsToGo folder, you can add additional folders to Documents To Go Desktop by dragging & dropping them into the program (or by using the "Add Folder" button). These folders will sync with the device the same way the My DocsToGo folder does.

After adding a folder, you can double-click on it in the Documents To Go Desktop program (or use the "Edit Folder" button) to see list of all the supported items that exist within that folder. By default, all supported items inside the folder will be synchronized (you can uncheck any items that you do not want to sync to your device).

NOTE:If you remove a folder from Documents To Go Desktop, it will not be deleted from your computer, but it will no longer sync with your device.

Certain files or folders in Documents To Go Desktop do not sync to my iPad/iPhone/iPod touch.

There are several reasons why certain files or folders may not sync to Documents To Go on your device:
  • Unsupported file types
File formats that are not supported by Documents To Go will not synchronize. They will not cause any problems for the other files and will simply be ignored by Documents To Go Desktop.
  • Missing file extensions
Files that are missing extensions will not synchronize. If the missing files are supported but are missing file extensions, find those files on your computer and add the appropriate extension to each one.
  • Not selected for synchronization
Files and subfolders within a folder listed in Documents To Go Desktop can be individually set to sync or to not sync. In Documents To Go Desktop, select a folder and click the "Edit Folder" button. You will see a list of all the supported files & subfolders that exist within that folder (click the '+' button next to a folder to see its contents). Any files or subfolders that are not checked will not synchronize. Simply click the empty checkboxes next to items you want to sync to your device.
  • Shortcuts & Aliases
'Shortcuts' (Windows) and 'Aliases' (Mac) are very small files which point to real files or folders located somewhere else on a computer. Although opening a shortcut or alias will open the real file/folder that it points to, it is not the actual file (it is literally just a shortcut to the actual file). Shortcuts or aliases within a folder listed in Documents To Go Desktop will not synchronize. You will need to move the original files/folders into the "My DocsToGo" folder, or add the folder containing them to Documents To Go Desktop.

Can I copy and paste cells from Sheet To Go to other applications on an Android device?

Multiple cells can be copied and pasted within the same Excel file in Sheet To Go, but cannot currently be copied and pasted to other files or applications on an Android device.

However, it is possible to copy and paste a single cell to another file or application by following these steps:

  1. Select the cell you want to copy or cut.
  2. Tap and hold the formula bar until a menu appears.
  3. Select Copy All or Cut All.
  4. In another Excel file, select a cell.
  5. Tap and hold the formula bar until a menu appears.
  6. Select Paste.
Pasting the cell contents to a different application is almost the same as pasting it into another Excel file. Simply open the other application and select a text field, tap and hold that field until a menu appears, then select Paste.

Can Documents To Go for Android synchronize with multiple computers?

Yes, Documents To Go can synchronize with multiple desktop computers by using the Documents To Go Desktop program, or by using Google Docs. Desktop sync and Google Docs require the Full Version of Documents To Go for Android. Both methods are explained below:

Documents To Go Desktop Synchronization
Documents To Go can be set up to synchronize with the "Documents To Go Desktop" program on multiple computers. Each computer will have its own separate sync folder in the "Desktop Files" section in Documents To Go on the device, and each sync folder on the device will only synchronize with its associated computer. If you want to copy files between different computers, you can open a file in Documents To Go and do a "Save As" to save a new copy of it to another desktop sync folder. However, it would be a separate copy of the file and would not synchronize changes with the original.

Google Docs Synchronization
Documents To Go Full Version supports synchronization with Google Docs. You can download and edit files from your Google Docs account directly in Documents To Go, and synchronize your changes back to that account. If you edit/create files in Documents To Go, sync them to your Google Docs account, you can access these files from any desktop computer once logging into your Google Docs account.

I receive an error message trying to open a file in Documents To Go on my Android

You may receive various error messages including the following reasons:

1) The file type was created in an unsupported version of Microsoft Office such as MS Office 95 or below (These files will have a .doc, .xls, or .ppt extension).

2) The file was created by a non-Microsoft program such as OpenOffice.

3) The file was damaged or became corrupted.

Solution:

1. Open the file in Microsoft Office on your Windows or Mac OS computer
2. Choose "save as" from the menu
3. Save the file in a version of Microsoft Office that Documents To Go supports.
4. Reload the newly saved file to your Android device

Why do I get an "Unsupported Content" message when opening an Excel file on an Android device?

If an Excel file contains formulas that are not supported by Sheet To Go, or if it contains circular references, it will be "read only" on the handheld, and cannot be edited or changed in any way. When that file is opened in Sheet To Go, an "Unsupported Content" message will briefly appear near the top of the screen:

A small padlock icon will also appear near the upper-right corner of the screen to indicate that the file is locked and cannot be edited on the handheld. If you tap the padlock icon, the following message will appear:

This file is read-only due to the following unsupported content:

It will have a list of the worksheets and cells in the file which contain the unsupported content.

How can I copy files to and from my Android device from a computer?

Desktop Synchronization (Documents To Go Full Version Only) (Available on Windows Only)
You can synchronize files & folders between your computer and device by downloading and installing Documents To Go Desktop for Android on your Windows computer and pairing it with Documents To Go on the device via the USB cable. (Please note that Documents To Go does NOT support desktop top sync for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 device)

Cloud Storage (Documents To Go Full Version Only)
Documents To Go Full Version 3.0 supports document synchronization with Google Docs. Any changes you make can be saved and synchronized back to the online account. You can also create new files in Documents To Go and upload them to your account.

USB Storage Mode
You can copy files to the SD card in your Android device by connecting it to a computer with a USB cable, then mounting the SD card as a removable storage device. This allows you to browse though the files and folders on the card, and copy files to or from it.

To mount the SD card on the computer:

  • Connect the Android device to a computer using its USB cable.
  • On the computer, if you are asked about what to do, select Open folder to view files.
  • If the SD card folder does not appear, go to My Computer or Computer and find it under Removable Storage.

Card reader
You can copy files to your SD card if you have a compatible card reader for your computer. Take the SD card out of the device and insert it into the card reader. The card will mount as a disk on your computer, just like using USB Storage Mode. You can copy files to the Documents folder on the SD card, or to another folder of your choice. You can also copy files from the card to the computer.

Email attachment
You can send files as email attachments from your computer to your Android device. When you receive the email on the device, open the message and download/save/open the attachment.

  • Create a new Word document.
  • Save the file to the root level of the SD card
  • Connect the device via USB and mount the SD Card again
  • Check if that new file is at the root level of your card
  • If the file is there, try to pair or synchronize again

Solution 7: Run a Windows Update to make sure the system is up to date:

  • Connect your Android to the computer via USB
  • Mount the SD card/Turn on USB Mass Storage
  • Go into the Device Manager on your computer (right-click My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager)
  • Look under "Universal Serial Bus controllers" in the device manager
  • If you see a USB driver listed in there with a yellow exclamation mark on it, right-click on that entry, choose Properties, the "Driver" tab, and select "Update Driver"

This will use Windows Update to search online for a more suitable driver for the USB device

Where can I find information about my Documents To Go that came preloaded on my BlackBerry 7 device or BlackBerry Playbook?

RIM is the sole developer of Documents To Go that came preinstalled on your BlackBerry 7 device and BlackBerry Playbook.

For inquiries for Documents To Go for BlackBerry 7, please see the Documents To Go for BlackBerry 7 user guide or contact RIM directly as this is not a DataViz product: http://us.blackberry.com/support/

For Playbook inquiries, please see the following RIM support link: http://us.blackberry.com/support/playbook-support/

Previous versions of Docs To Go that work on a BlackBerry OS 4.5- 6.0 phone should not be installed on the BlackBerry OS 7 device or Playbook. This includes versions of "Documents To Go Files" for desktop synchronization. Since Documents To Go for BlackBerry 7 and for the PlayBook is NOT a DataViz product, you cannot use the DataViz "Documents To Go Files" application to synchronize.

Documents To Go Hot Topics Palm Answers:

Does Documents To Go support Windows 7?

Yes, Documents To Go 11 has been tested on Windows 7 and is compatible. It requires Palm Desktop 6.2 or higher to be installed on the computer. Documents To Go versions 9 and lower will not work properly on Windows 7, regardless of which version of Palm Desktop is installed. Documents To Go version 10 has not been tested on Windows 7.

Please note that 64-bit editions of Windows are NOT supported. This is because Palm Desktop and HotSync Manager do not support 64-bit editions of Windows. Although Palm suggests a possible workaround of syncing through a Bluetooth wireless connection, that can be an unreliable method of synchronization. It may work sometimes but not all the time, and therefore is not supported.

Installation error: The wizard was interrupted before Documents To Go could be completely installed.

During installation, I receive the following error message:

InstallShield Wizard Completed
The wizard was interrupted before Documents To Go could be completely installed.
Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again.
Click Finish to exit the wizard.

Solution:

This can normally be fixed by restarting the computer, uninstalling Documents To Go from the computer, and then reinstalling Documents To Go.

Please follow the steps below:

  1. Restart the computer

  2. Uninstall Documents To Go from the computer

    Windows 2000/XP:

    1. Go to Start > Control Panel (or Start > Settings > Control Panel).
    2. Open "Add or Remove Programs".
    3. Choose Documents To Go on the list of applications and click Remove.
    4. Click Yes to confirm deletion of Documents To Go.

    Windows Vista/Windows 7:

    1. Go to the Start menu and select Control Panel.
    2. Under "Programs", select Uninstall A Program (or if the Control Panel is in "Classic View", go toPrograms And Features).
    3. In the list that appears, select Documents To Go.
    4. Click Uninstall (then click Yes to confirm).

NOTE: When uninstalling Documents To Go, you will uninstall it for ALL handheld users and will remove their desktop data. Doing this will in no way affect the original documents (word processing, spreadsheets, PPT files, etc) on your desktop computer. However, if you reinstall Documents To Go, you will need to reestablish the links to those documents.

  3. Try to reinstall Documents To Go

My handheld soft resets or reboots whenever I open the Documents application, or a file within the application.

There are different reasons why this problem may be happening. Most of the time, it is the result of a corrupt Documents To Go preference file or database file on the handheld. The way to fix this is often to delete the corrupt preference or database file from the handheld. It may also be necessary to uninstall and reinstall Documents To Go on the handheld.

Even if you have already tried to solve this problem by uninstalling and reinstalling the Documents To Go handheld applications, you should still follow all the steps in Solution #1 and Solution #2.

Solution #1:

  • Download the latest version of the DataViz Tech Tool (click the link and save it to the Desktop)
  • Double-click the dataviztech.prc file to add it to Quick Install (or Install Tool)
  • Close Quick Install (or Install Tool) and HotSync your handheld
  • After the sync, open the DatavizTech application on the handheld
  • Tap the upper left corner of the screen (or press the Menu button) to view the menu bar
  • Select Advanced Options
  • Tap the first button, "Delete Preferences" (tap Yes to confirm)
  • Next, tap the third button,"Delete Temp Database" (tap Yes to confirm)
  • Soft-reset by pressing the reset button inside the hole on the back/bottom of the handheld (on some Treo models, you may need to remove the battery)
  • After the soft reset, try Documents To Go on the handheld to see if it works

Solution #2:

If Solution #1 does not solve the problem, try uninstalling Documents To Go from the handheld:

  • Open the "DataVizTech" application on your handheld
  • Tap the button for "Uninstall Documents To Go" (tap Yes to confirm)
  • Tap the upper left corner of the screen (or press the Menu button) to view the menu bar
  • Select Advanced Options
  • Tap the first button, "Delete Preferences" (tap Yes to confirm)
  • Next, tap the third button,"Delete Temp Database" (tap Yes to confirm)
  • Soft-reset by pressing the reset button inside the hole on the back/bottom of the handheld (on some Treo models, you may need to remove the battery)

Once the handheld is ready, you can reinstall the Documents To Go handheld applications:

  • Open Documents To Go on the desktop computer
  • Click on the Tools menu (or Documents To Go menu on a Mac) and select Re-Install Handheld Applications
  • On the screen that appears, make sure your Palm username is selected, and click OK
  • Read the message that appears and click OK
  • Click on the Tools menu (or Documents To Go menu on a Mac) and select Preferences
  • Click on the "HotSync Action" tab, and select "Desktop Overwrites Handheld"
  • Click OK, then close Documents To Go
  • Hotsync the handheld
  • After the HotSync, open Documents To Go on the handheld to see if it works
Back to top

Each time I do a HotSync, it freezes or hangs during Documents To Go. I also have problems opening Documents To Go on the desktop, adding files, and/or uninstalling it from the desktop.

The problem is related to the HotSync Manager registry settings. The main symptoms usually include the following:

  • The HotSync progress crashes or freezes at Documents To Go.
  • Trying to open Documents To Go on the computer causes various errors, or it does not launch at all.
  • The progress bar freezes when trying to install or uninstall Documents To Go on the computer.

Each of those problems may happen for different reasons, but if you are experiencing at least 2 of those 3 symptoms, it is most likely because of the problem with the HotSync Manager registry settings. Some customers have also reported the following symptoms in conjunction with the overall issue:

  • Trying to change the Documents To Go conduit causes "Error accessing Documents To Go user information. You must first open the Documents To Go application and select your Palm user name." However, the Documents To Go application on the computer cannot be opened.
  • Trying to add any file to Documents To Go causes random error messages on the computer.
  • Other odd behavior occurs during a HotSync.

Not everyone will have these exact same symptoms or errors. This issue seems to happen a bit differently for each person who experiences it.

Solution:
You will need to rebuild your Windows Registry entries for HotSync Manager. Continue with the procedure below.

To rebuild the HotSync Manager registry settings, you will need to uninstall and reinstall the Palm Desktop software. To completely remove Palm software from your computer, including the Palm Desktop and HotSync Manager from your computer, perform a normal uninstall of the software and then remove the Palm software entries in the Windows Registry.

  • Close all open windows and applications.
  • Click Start in the bottom left corner of your screen.
  • Select Settings, then Control Panel.
  • Double click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
  • Scroll down and select Palm Desktop, palmOne, or Palm.
  • Click the Add/Remove button and Palm Desktop should uninstall.
  • Scroll up and select Documents To Go.
  • Click the Add/Remove button and Documents To Go should now uninstall.
Verify that both Palm Desktop, and Documents To Go, have both been removed from Add/Remove Programs.

To remove Palm Desktop and HotSync Manager registry entries, follow the instructions below.
Warning: This article includes instructions for modifying the Windows registry. Before you so this, make sure to back up the registry, and make sure that you understand how to restore the registry if a problem occurs. See Microsoft Knowledge Base article 256986 for more information. Steps 4-7 are optional, and are for your safety.

  1. Shut down any open windows or applications.
  2. Click on the Start menu, then select Run.
  3. Type in regedit and click OK.
  4. Click on the File menu, and select Export.
  5. Set the directory where you are saving the registry file to your Desktop.
  6. Type in any name for the file, and make sure All is selected.
  7. Click SAVE, and verify that it has created a backup file on your desktop.
  8. Press the plus sign next to the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER"
  9. Press the plus sign next to "Software"
  10. Find a folder called "U.S. Robotics"
  11. Right click the "U.S. Robotics" folder and select Delete.
  12. Close the Registry Editor window.

Remember to restart your computer to ensure that the changes take effect.

When your computer has restarted, install Palm Desktop software from the original CD by following the procedure below.

  1. Exit any open programs, including those that run automatically at startup (such as Microsoft Office) and virus-scanning software.
  2. Insert the Palm Desktop CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.
Note: If installation does not begin, click the Windows Start button, choose Run, then enter d:\autorun.exe, and click OK. If necessary, replace D: with the appropriate CD-ROM drive letter assigned.
  3. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation. During the installation, you may be asked to connect your handheld to the HotSync cradle.
  4. Perform a HotSync operation.
  5. Complete the Palm Desktop installation.
Once the Palm Desktop software is installed and you can successfully sync with your handheld, you can reinstall Documents To Go. You can download the installer from the DataViz download site:
